Spotlight on Wibsey Library!
Conspicuously situated on North Road , off the High Street, the library is a hub of the local community, providing numerous resources for villagers and library users across the city. Dispelling the idea that libraries are stuffy, dusty archives of seldom-read literature, Wibsey Library is a bright, appealing building visited by over 500 customers a week, To read the rest of this

The development of the Urban Village Programme within Bradford South
In March 2004, the Executive Committee of Bradford Council decided that the Council would support the development of "Urban Village Action Plans" in a number of communities that were neither inner city nor rural. The Urban Village Funding (£75,000 per area) was allocated to seven pilot areas across the district and in Bradford South this included Queensbury and Wyke.
In April 2005, the Executive decided that Urban Village Action Planning is undertaken in an additional four areas across the district and in Bradford South this included Low Moor and Wibsey.
Most of them have been wound up once the money was spent, but here in Wibsey we felt that there was an opportunity to do something more lasting, so the urban village committee working together with Wibsey local councillors has decided to draw up an urban design statement for the village.
Wibsey Urban Village Update
The committee have now drawn up a draft report “Village Voices” based on the feedback received from local residents. A meeting of the Wibsey Urban Village Partnership will be held specifically to discuss this report on Wednesday 9th April 2008 7.00 PM at Wibsey Primary School North Road.

Bradford Bulls Read regular articles by James McCann about the Bulls here..
Bradford Bulls ended an impressive month by storming into the Challenge Cup 5 th round with a record display against Toulouse . The hapless French side were obliterated by a Bulls side who seemed invigorated by a recent return to form, and no fewer than three different players registered hat-tricks at the Grattan Stadium. Glenn Morrison and rapidly-improving winger Semi Tadulala scored three tries each and of the match Dave Halley even crossed over for a fourth in what was an entirely one-sided display compounded by Iestyn Harris' incredible 15 goals from 17 attempts. This tally broke Joe Phillips and Henry Paul's total of most kicks in a game as the West Yorkshire side just fell short of the magic 100 mark, triumphing 98-6. The next round will see Bradford face off against another French side, Catalans Dragons, who will surely be apprehensive about their May visit to Odsal. Click here for more |

Postcards of Old Bradford
If you are one of the many Wibsey folk who are interested in the history of the
village and
the surrounding area,
I can recommend a visit to the website of Ted one of our members. The site, which
is very professionally put together, is a collection of postcards depicting views
of Wibsey and other areas of Bradford, Ted has very cleverly given you the option
of viewing the address side of the card thus enabling you to see who the card
was addressed to and the comments of the sender. One postcard with views of Forster
Square was posted from Bradford to Sheffield in 1903, and one, which I particularly
like with views of Judy Woods near Wyke, was sent from Bradford to Blackpool in
August 1903. The site also contains many interesting photos of Old Wibsey.
